The Snipping Tool is a popular feature within Windows 11. The app always makes it quick and easy to capture and share content from your computer, On Windows 11, the Snipping Tool app includes the ability to create screen recordings. This feature is available starting with the Spinning Tool version 11.2211.35.0 and higher releases.

The update bring screen recording ability for Windows 11 laptops. Once the update arrives on your device, you will notice a new “Record” button in the Snipping Tool interface.

The Snipping tool in Windows 11 works well for screen record, but there are no toggles to record the microphone, device audio, system sounds, or add a webcam view. Since this is a basic feature, you cannot crop or edit the footage. And also, Xbox Game Bar can record your screen, but it’s a standalone app in the Microsoft Store, meaning you need to download it separately.

First, Open Settings. Click on Installed Apps.

Under the “ Installed Apps” section,  click on uninstall, so you can initiate the uninstallation.

1. Now, you need to download the new Snipping Tool using the link here.

2- Once you have done that, double-click on the downloaded file, and it will automatically launch the installer. And will be installed on your Windows 11 PC.

3- After the installation, open it. Under the tool’s settings page, you can find the version number of the new Snipping Tool which is 11.2211.35.0.4

Well, to record the screen on Windows 11 using the Snipping tool, switch to the “Record” option and click on the “New” button.

Then select the area or the app to record. and click on Start when ready to record.

When finished recording, click on the Stop (red square) button. You can also choose to click the “trash” icon to discard the recording.

The Snipping Tool will now open up.  Here, you need to click on the “Save” button at the top right to store the screen recording in your preferred location or you can preview your recording before saving and sharing it with others.
