Throughout 2017 Instagram added a lot of neat new features to its social network. From hiding photos or video to an archive, saving live videos, and now following hashtags.
If you have a few favorite hashtags on Instagram that you keep your eye on unless a third-party app had the option to follow them the only way to do so until now has been to search for them and see what’s newly tagged with them.
Instagram has introduced the ability to follow hashtags on the social network, giving users a new way to discover and stay on top of their favorite interests. In this quick guide, we’ll show you how to follow hashtags on Instagram.
Follow Hashtags On Instagram
1- Open Instagram.
2- Tap the magnifying glass Search button near the bottom left of the screen.
3- Tap on the search bar at the top.
4- Type in a hashtag that you want to follow, and make sure that the “Tags” tab is selected.
5-After you select a hashtag, you can tap on the blue “Follow” button at the top.
Once you start following a hashtag, it will appear in your home feed whenever someone on Instagram uploads a photo or video with that particular hashtag. There’s no filter that you can apply to these posts so they can be from any country in the world, and they can be in any language. Be warned that if you pick a particularly popular hashtag to follow e.g. #shoes, you will be seeing a lot of posts in your home feed. The posts show which hashtag they’re from and the original account that shared the photo.
You’ll also see some of the latest stories that have that hashtag appear in your stories bar. To see a list of all the hashtags that you follow, go to your profile page and tap on “Following”.
After that, tap on the “Hashtags” tab at the top. A list will appear of all the hashtags that you follow. From here you can also tap on “Following” next to a hashtag to unfollow it at any time. You can always unfollow a hashtag at any time.
How to keep your account private
Similar to people you follow, hashtags you follow respect your privacy settings.
If you set your account to private, the hashtags you follow will only be visible to your followers.
