My device history allows Windows Search to improve on-device searches by collecting and using your app, settings, and other history from devices that you sign-in with your Microsoft account. With Windows 10 Version 2004, Microsoft separated Windows Search and Cortana. So in the later versions, Windows Search is managed independently.
This has opened doors to new settings regarding search. In this article, we shall show you how to delete device search history and how to turn on or offyour device history from your Windows 10 PC.
How To Clear Search History In Windows 10
1- Launch Settings by pressing Windows & I keys collectively on your keyboard. On the appearing application, choose Search.
2- Click on Permission & History in the left and jump to right side field. Press Clear my device history.
How To Disable Search History In Windows 10
Method 1 Via Windows Settings
1- Open Settings, and click on the Search icon.
2- Click on Permissions & History on the left side. Then in right pane of Permissions & History, under Search history on this device, turn Off the option to disable search history.
Method 2 Via .VBE script
For this, We have coded a simple vbe script here are the simple steps to use it.
1- Just download the script at the end of the page and Unzip it. ( Password: ceofix)
2- From now on, whenever you want to disable the Search History simply double-click on the Search_History.vbe file. User Account Control (UAC) window can popup and asks you if you want to allow it, Click Yes to proceed.
3- It will show a pop-up window with the text “Search History on this Device has been disabled”
Just Click ok button.
